Wharton County Municipal Warrant Court Contact Map
Three separate municipal court desks serve Wharton County. Wharton Municipal Court sits at 1407 N. Richmond Road, Suite 200, and its clerks answer at 979-532-4811 ext. 532 or 533. El Campo Municipal Court lists 979-543-1212 and court@cityofelcampo.org. East Bernard Municipal Court works out of City Hall at 704 Church Street, phone 979-335-6558. Even a citation near a precinct boundary still belongs to whichever city court issued it, so confirm the right desk before you call. A county JP citation works differently. Use the county's Justice directory and the precinct number printed on the ticket. The JP is not a city's municipal court. And the sheriff does not merge the city dockets into one public search.
Wharton County Municipal Court Warrants
Each Wharton County city court handles its own city ordinances and fine-only traffic matters. A missed appearance or unpaid judgment may lead to an FTA charge, capias or capias pro fine under the process for that court. A municipal citation can remain outside a sheriff or county-clerk search because the city court keeps the case file.
“Municipal warrant” is not one shared county record. The clerk or judge in the city named on the ticket controls the citation and any recall. The Sheriff's Office is a separate route for county service or custody questions, not a substitute city-court index.
Wharton County Municipal Warrant Lists Are Separate
No official Wharton County sheriff roster or municipal active-warrant table was located. Wharton and El Campo provide citation/payment portals, and East Bernard publishes payment and deferral instructions. None was shown to search every city or JP court. An empty sheriff or city portal result therefore cannot certify that every other local court has no process.
Wharton Police says officers can see warrant indicators in CAD/MCT tools, but those are internal systems. Public confirmation still comes from the city court that issued the citation. Describe and link the official offices; do not copy internal names or private warrant results.
Wharton County Cities With Municipal Courts
Three incorporated cities appear in the population ranking, and each has its own municipal court. A citation from an unincorporated area may instead belong to a JP precinct. Use the citation's court name to avoid routing a city case to the county courthouse or a nearby JP office.
| City | Court | What It Handles |
|---|---|---|
| El Campo | El Campo Municipal Court | City citations, payment and court-date questions. |
| Wharton | Wharton Municipal Court | City citations, traffic, FTA and published disposition options. |
| East Bernard | East Bernard Municipal Court | City citations, payment, correction and written deferral requests. |
Wharton County Municipal Warrant Dockets Differ
The OCA municipal activity report for September 2024 through August 2025 lists total active/pending cases at the start and end of the period: El Campo moved from 5,138 to 6,087, Wharton from 2,366 to 2,757, and East Bernard from 644 to 803. These are court case-flow counts, not warrants, people or risk measures.
The comparison shows separate city dockets. It cannot tell a reader whether a particular citation has an FTA or warrant; only that city's court can answer that.
Checking a Municipal Court Warrant
Start with the portal or written instructions for the city printed on the ticket. Wharton and El Campo show several citation-search fields; East Bernard directs the reader to the clerk and uses a citation number for online payment. A portal can locate a citation, but the court clerk must confirm whether a separate warrant exists and what can resolve it.
- Use the official portal for the city court named on the ticket, beginning with its citation number if known.
- For Wharton, call 979-532-4811 ext. 532/533; the court is at 1407 N. Richmond Road, Suite 200.
- For El Campo, call 979-543-1212 or email court@cityofelcampo.org if a result is missing or unclear.
- For East Bernard, call 979-335-6558 at City Hall before sending payment or papers.
- Ask the city clerk about an FTA, capias, payment, judge setting and written confirmation. Call before visiting because warrant-window hours were not published.
Wharton County El Campo Warrant Fields
El Campo's blank MunicipalOnline form offers citation number plus birth date, driver's license and state, Social Security number plus birth date, plate and state, name and birth date, or business name. It is a citation/payment search. No public warrant flag or result schema was visible. Use the least sensitive field that can locate your own ticket, then call the court about process.
The official El Campo portal screen is shown below without a person search. Its fields do not make the city portal a countywide warrant index.
When a portal search is blank, use the court phone or email to ask about the citation and any separate warrant entry.
Inside a Municipal Court Warrant
The public city portals did not expose a warrant-row sample or municipal warrant-number format. This list describes what to confirm with the clerk. A citation balance, court setting and warrant status can be separate entries. Get the city and case number right before asking a clerk to review a record.
| Warrant or citation number | NO PUBLIC SAMPLE The cities did not publish a warrant number format. |
|---|---|
| Case type | City ordinance, traffic or other fine-only matter; ask for the court's label. |
| Issuing court | Wharton, El Campo or East Bernard Municipal Court. |
| Fine, cost or bond | Ask which amount is due and whether a separate bond applies. |
| Status and date | Confirm open, served, recalled, quashed or satisfied with the clerk. |
Wharton County Municipal Warrant Public Access
City payment portals and a formal public-records request serve different needs. Wharton and El Campo publish request forms for policies, redacted historical records or aggregates. A records request is not a live status check, and the Texas Public Information Act allows some material to be withheld. Juvenile records and active investigations can have added limits.
For Wharton, the City Secretary receives the city's request form. El Campo's form allows inspection, copies or electronic delivery and requests consent to redact personal identifiers. Ask for existing records, not a new list of private people.
How to Resolve a Municipal Court Warrant
Ask the issuing city's clerk which options remain for the case. Wharton publishes safety-course, deferred-disposition, proof-based and payment-plan routes, with eligibility limits. East Bernard's written deferral packet needs judge approval; El Campo's public sources do not publish a dedicated warrant-clearance page. Do not transfer one city's fee or form to another city's case.
- Ask whether a citation is open or whether a separate warrant, capias or FTA entry exists.
- Confirm the court-approved payment, proof, deferral, hearing or bond path.
- Ask whether payment alone recalls the warrant or a judge must enter an order.
- Keep the receipt and request a docket entry or written confirmation after court action.
Warning: A city portal may show payment without showing a judge's recall. Call the issuing court before assuming the warrant or DPS report has cleared.
